Don't kill card magic, please.

10th, October 2024

I hate that I have to write about this again.

Especially knowing that this will have no impact on anything.

Old-ish man yelling at the clouds.

Just out of interest, I was watching card magic tutorials on Youtube.

The stuff the youngsters do today!

They are killing card magic.

The "perfect" but yet obvious moves designed to show that you have played with your d*ck for too many hours everyday.

That's again 'deck' by the way.

The stupid 20 second transposition/sandwich effects during which nobody even undestands what's happening.

If you perform sequences that look like you're caressing the cards in a way that you should get a room with the cards... well that actually means you need to get out of your room.

It's like a coin magicians doing the fanciest moves they can to show that the coin is not in their hands... please, everybody can see that you're doing all these weird things with your hands in order to keep the coin hidden somehow.

Same with this idiotic way of handling the cards in a way that will make people think of you as a juggler instead of a magician.

Magic only happens when there's no explanation.

When your card handling skills project to the audience that you have spent way too much time alone with the cards, you will kill the magic. Your card magic becomes just a show of acrobatic skills with the pasteboards.

Again, magic only happens when there's no explanation.

Every unnatural movement, however fluid, flashy, or smooth will keep eroding the illusion.

The audience wants to experience magic; they are not interested in watching you fondle your d*ck..

If this is the future of card magic, I don't know what to say...

Guys, please don't kill card magic.

Seriously.
